Tomorrow is Shea's last stand
The Mets can control whether their season continues with a win tomorrow over Florida.
It's time for the New Yorkers to come out in style and get Shea Stadium rockin' for its regular season finale.
For me, this whole weekend has allowed me to reflect on Shea's history and my two visits there; once in 1983, and again last April.
I went back to the pictures from that April 23 game against the Rockies to remember how wonderful it was to be at Shea, and how great it was to share that experience with my wife and daughter. I was soaking all of the moments up like a sponge, hoping that I didn't have to leave. I knew that this would be my last chance to say goodbye to the place that was very special to me and my family.
Regardless what happens tomorrow, I hope we can celebrate Shea...the wonderful place that it is...and appreciate all that it brought to generations of Mets fans.
I know that I'll never forget sitting there with my daughter last year, showing her the place that is home to our Mets. The twinkle in her eyes were the same as mine. And I knew that she appreciated everything that I was sharing.
Let's Go Mets. We believe.
