Sabres: Gaustad out

Buffalo will be without F Paul Gaustad for at least three to four weeks after thumb surgery. The Sabres are relying on Gaustad to provide an increased physical presence and leadership after signing a contract extension during the summer.

"Goose" will be honking soon, and the Sabres will have a longer look at one of their prospects, likely F Nathan Gerbe, going into the start of the 2008-09 campaign.
